Working in the garden

We helped out in the school garden last week by harvesting some of the crop, watering and weeding the class beds.

One of the beds had runner beans in them. We picked them off and put them into two groups. The beans that were fully green we put them in a group which meant they were ready to eat. The runner beans that were a browny-green colour we put in another pile and we opened up their pouches. The beans were a purple colour and we were allowed take one bean home and put it in a safe place until Spring. We will be able to plant that same bean in Spring.

We weeded a class bed which had beetroot in it.

Trip to the Mill Theatre Dundrum

Last Friday, we went to the Mill Theatre to listen to the author Philip Ardagh. He is the writer of "The Grunts" set of books. He was very funny and entertaining and talked us through his images, characters and ideas for his books. He did a brainstorming session where we as the audience came up with an idea for a book and dramatized it on stage. At the end, he had a discussion time where we got to ask him some questions. He said we asked some very interesting questions!

This is Philip with Axel Scheffler. The illustrator of the images in his books.
