Homework

Homework is given each night Monday-Thursday. It is given in small enough quantities so that on average the children shouldn't have to spend any more than about 30 mins doing their homework each night. It is highly important that the children complete their homework each night. It helps them to revise their work and practice skills that they have learned in class. If children are finding their homework overly difficult or that it takes too long, then communication, as always, is the key: contact the school to arrange a meeting with the class teacher so that your concerns, as a parent, can be taken into account and action can be taken.

SOME USEFUL TIPS…
- Set up particular place for homework.
- Same time daily.
- No T.V. or radio.
- Don’t help child unless he / she is having difficulty.
- Check homework is done and sign journal.
- Do not do homework for child.
- Note MUST be produced if homework is not complete.

HOMEWORK JOURNAL…
- Means of communication between teacher and home.
- Check daily for notes / messages and sign.

Reading at home
Sometimes texts can appear to be easy to decode (i.e. break down each word) but good questions about the text can enhance recall, reasoning, thinking skills and vocabulary!
